What it does today

  • Distance times the rate

Enter the miles or kilometres and the trip’s purpose. The claim works out the amount and keeps the rate it used.

  • HMRC’s rates, set up for you

A new workspace starts with HMRC’s approved mileage rates for cars and vans, motorcycles and bicycles, applied by each claim’s date. You can add your own.

  • Per diems at your rates

A daily allowance is the number of days times a rate your business sets.

  • Approved like any expense

Mileage and per diems go through the same approval rules, and post to the ledger once approved.

  • Repeat claims flagged

The same mileage or per diem claimed twice is flagged as a likely duplicate.

Questions

Does Hyrlo track the 10,000-mile threshold?

Yes. Each person’s car and van miles at HMRC’s rates are counted from 6 April, and a claim that crosses 10,000 in the tax year is split between the two rates, with the working shown.

Can I set my own rates?

Yes. Mileage and per diem rates are both in settings, and Hyrlo never changes a rate you set. Once a claim is approved, it keeps the rate it was priced at.

Can I work out a mileage allowance without signing up?

Yes. The free mileage allowance calculator works it out at HMRC’s rates, with the working shown.
